| Michigan Republicans achieved historic electoral successes in 1998 by capturing control of all three branches of state government -- a feat unaccomplished in nearly 50 years -- and retaining control again in 2000, along with winning an additional Congressional seat.
In 2002 the Michigan Republicans strengthened their majority in the state House by winning an additional five seats, retained 22 in the state Senate, retained the Secretary of State's office, and won the Attorney General's office for the first time in 50 years. We also retained a conservative majority on the Supreme Court by re-electing Judges Elizabeth Weaver and Robert Young, Jr. Michigan Republicans will also play a role in supporting President Bush's agenda in Washington D.C. - nine out of Michigan's fifteen congressmen are Republicans. Michigan Republicans have paved the way for a national conservative reform movement by providing innovative education, welfare and tax reform.
